탈무드 임마누엘 13-임마누엘과 안식일(Jmmanuel and the Sabbath)

 

 

 1.  At that time Jmmanuel walked through a field of grain on the Sabbath; 

 1. 임마누엘이 안식일에 보리밭을 지나 걸어가신 적이 있었습니다. 

and his disciples, being hungry, began to pluck ears of grain and to eat. 

그때에 제자들이 배가 고픈지라 보리 이삭을 따 먹었습니다.
 2.  When the Pharisees saw this, they spoke to him, 
 2. 바리사이파 사람들이 이것을 보고 임마누엘에게 말하였습니다. 

"Behold, your disciples are doing what is not allowed on the Sabbath."

"보시오, 그대의 제자들이 안식일에 금지되어 있는 짓을 하고 있소."
 3.  But he spoke to them, 
 3. 그러자 그가 그들에게 말씀하셨습니다. 

"Have you not read what David did when he and those with him were hungry?

"그대들은 다윗이 그의 수하들과 굶주렸을 때 어떻게 했는지를 읽지 않았습니까?
 4. "How he went into the temple and ate the shewbread, which neither he nor those with him were permitted to eat but only the priests?
 4. 그가 성전에 어떻게 들어가서 자신이나 수하들은 먹을 수 없고 오직 사제들만 먹을 수 있었던 제단에 바쳐진 빵을 먹었는지를 읽지 않았습니까?
 5. "Or have you not read in the law, how on the Sabbath the priests in the temple violate the Sabbath and yet are without guilt?
 5. 또는 율법에 기록되어 있는 바, 사제들이 성전에서 안식일에 안식률을 어기고도 어떻게 죄의식을 느끼지 않는지를 읽지 않았습니까?
 6. "Truly, I say to you, you brood of snakes and vipers, 
 6. 진실로 내 그대들에게 말합니다, 이 독사의 후손들이여. 

a stone will turn into bread before no work may be done on the Sabbath.

안식일에 아무 일도 해서는 안 되기를 기다리느니 차라리 돌멩이가 빵으로 변하기를 기다리는 것이 빠를 것입니다.
 7. "For the law that the Sabbath be kept holy is only a man-made law without logic,  7 본래 안식일을 거룩하게 지켜야 한다는 율법이란 사람이 논리에 맞지 않게 지어낸 한 법에 불과하며, 

as are many man-made laws that contradict the laws of Creation.

사람이 만들어낸 다른 모든 율법들과 마찬가지로 창조의 율법에 어긋나기 때문입니다.
 8. "False prophets and distorters of the scriptures are the guilty ones responsible for these false laws that contradict the laws of Creation and of nature.
 8. 거짓 예언자들과 성서를 왜곡한 자들이 바로 이러한 창조와 자연의 율법을 거역하는 율법들에 대해 책임을 져야 할 죄인들입니다.
 9. "It is therefore a human law that the Sabbath be kept holy and that no work be done on that day, 
 9. 안식일을 거룩하게 여겨야 하므로 아무도 이 날에는 일을 해서는 안 된다는 것은 인간이 만든 율법입니다. 

but it is a law that escapes logic, since this law is a false teaching, emanating from the human mind.

그러나 이 율법은 인간의 마음에서 비롯된 그릇된 가르침 가운데 하나이며 또한 논리에 맞지 않는 것입니다.
 10. "Truly, I say to you, no Sabbath is holy and no law of Creation dictates that no work may be done on the Sabbath.
 10. 진실로 내가 그대들에게 이릅니다. 어떤 안식일도 거룩한 것이 아니며, 어떤 율법도 안식일에 일을 하여서는 안 된다고 강요하지 않습니다.
 11. "Thus the Sabbath is a day like any other day on which the day's work may be done.
 11. 그러니, 안식일이란 그 날 해야 할 일을 해도 되는 다른 어느 날이나 마찬가지인 평범한 하루 일 뿐입니다.
 12. "Humans are creatures with wills of their own; thus they alone ate masters over the Sabbath, 
 12. 사람들은 자기 스스로의 의지를 가지고 있습니다. 그러므로 사람들만이 오직 안식일을 다스리는 주인이니, 

as was previously written in those ancient scriptures and laws that were not adulterated by false prophets, distorters of the scriptures and Pharisees."

이것은 거짓 예언자들과 성서를 왜곡한 자들과 바리사이파 사람들에 의해 더럽혀지지 않았던 성서와 율법에 기록된 그대로입니다."
 13.  And he walked on from there and came into their synagogue, where he continued to teach the people.
 13. 그리고 임마누엘은 거기서부터 걸음을 계속하셔서 바리사이파 사람들의 회당으로 들어가 사람들을 계속 가르치셨습니다.
 14.  And behold, there was a man with a withered hand, and they asked him, 
 14. 그때 그 곳에 손이 오그라든 사람이 하나 있었으므로 바리사이파 사람들은 임마누엘에게 물었습니다. 

"is it also lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" in order that they would have further cause against him.

"안식일에 환자를 고치는 것이 율법에 맞는 일이오?" 이는 그들이 임마누엘에게 불리한, 더욱 강력한 사례를 확보하기 위해서였습니다.
 15.  But he spoke to them, "You hypocrites, if only you had eyes, ears and minds so you could see, hear and understand; 
 15. 그러나 그는 그들에게 대답하셨습니다. "그대 위선자들이여, 그대들이 단지 눈, 귀와 이해력만 가지고 있다면, 그래서 보고, 듣고 이해할 수만 있다면 얼마나 좋겠소? 

but you are blind and without reason because you lack the knowledge to see, hear and understand nature. 

그러나 그대들은 볼 수도 들을 수도 없고 이해력도 없구려. 이것은 그대들이 자연을 보고 듣고 이해하기 위한 지식이 없기 때문이며, 

Therefore, you lack insight into the laws of Creation 

또한 그대들이 창조의 율법에 대해 올바른 인식을 가지고 있지 않기 때문에 

that would enable you to see, hear and understand that Creation does not keep the Sabbath holy.

창조가 안식일을 거룩하게 여기지 않으심을 보고 듣거나 또 이해할 수가 없는 것입니다.
 16. "Every Sabbath day Creation rotates the stars through the heavens, regulates the sun, winds and rains and nourishes all creatures on Earth. 
 16. 모든 안식일에도 창조는 하늘의 별들을 운행시키시고, 해와 바람과 비를 조절하시며. 지상에 있는 모든 생명체들을 키우십니다.
 17. "It keeps the rivers flowing in their beds, and everything goes its normal way on one Sabbath as on another, just as Creation made it.
 17. 창조는 어느 안식일에도 다른 안식일들과 마찬가지로 물이 제 길을 따라 흐르게 하시고, 모든 것이 창조에 의해 만들어진 대로 본연의 길을 가도록 하십니다.
 18. "But are not humans much more than all the creatures and plants? Thus they are masters over them all when they follow the true laws!
 18. 안식일에도 본연의 길을 가는 다른 모든 생물이나 식물들보다도 사람들은 훨씬 더 귀하지 않습니까? 만일 사람들이 진실한 율법을 따른다면, 그들은 다른 모든 생물들과 식물들의 지배자가 될 것입니다!
 19. "You brood of snakes and vipers, you distorters of the scriptures who, because of your greed for money and power, spread false teachings; had you but one sheep that fell into a pit on the Sabbath day, who among you would not take hold of it and pull it out?
 19. 그대 독사의 후손들이여, 그대들, 돈과 권력을 위한 탐욕 때문에 그릇된 가르침을 퍼뜨리는 성서를 왜곡하는 자들이여. 그대들은 그대가 가진 단 한 마리의 양이 물웅덩이에 빠졌어도 그 날이 안식일이라 하여 그 양을 끌어내지 않고 내버려 두겠소?
 20. "How much more is a person worth than a sheep or your deceitful and false teachings?"
 20. 사람들은 한 마리의 양이나 그대들의 기만적이고 그릇된 가르침과는 비교할 수 없이 크고 귀한 존재인 것입니다!"
 21.  Then he spoke to the man, "Stretch out your hand!"
 21. 그리고는 그 손이 오그라든 사람에게 말씀하셨습니다. "손을 펴시오! "
 22.  And he stretched it out; and it became sound again just like the other hand.
 22. 그 사람이 오그라든 손을 폈습니다. 그러자 그 손은 즉시 다른 쪽 손과 마찬가지로 온전해졌습니다.
 23.  Then the Pharisees went out and held counsel about him, on how they could destroy him, 
 23. 바리사이파 사람들은 회당 밖으로 나가서 임마누엘에 대한 회의를 소집하고, 그를 어떻게 파멸시킬 것인가를 논의하였으니, 

since he made known their lies and false teachings in front of the people.

이는 그가 사람들 앞에서 자기들이 그동안 거짓들을 말해 왔음과 잘못 가르쳐 왔음을 폭로하였기 때문이었습니다.
 24.  When Jmmanuel learned of this, he withdrew from there, and many people followed him, 
 24. 임마누엘은 그 사실을 알고 그 회당을 떠나셨습니다. 그러자 많은 사람들이 그를 따라나섰고, 

including many sick people; and he healed them all. 

그 중에는 환자들이 여러 명 포함되어 있었는데, 그는 그들을 모두 고쳐 주셨습니다.
 25.  He warned them, however, not to spread the news about him, 
 25. 그는 자신에 대해 소문을 내지 말도록 엄하게 말씀하셨습니다. 

because he was afraid he would be captured and put to death by torture.

이는 그가 장차 붙들려서 십자가에 매달려 죽게 될 것을 두려워하셨기 때문입니다.
 26.  But his dedication to the truth prevailed, and so he continued to reveal his teachings and wisdom to the people.
 26. 그러나 진리를 전파하겠다는 그의 결심이(붙잡혀 죽을 것에 대한 두려움을 이겨내었으므로), 임마누엘은 사람들 앞에서 가르침과 지혜를 드러내는 일을 계속 하셨습니다.
