 1.  And it came to pass that Jmmanuel began to speak of the laws of marriage and related topics, and he said,

 1. 임마누엘께서 결혼의 법도 및 그와 관련된 주제를 가지고 설교를 하신 적이 있습니다. 그는 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다.
 2. "You have been given the directive: 'You shall not commit adultery.' 
 2. "사람들은 '간음하지 말라'는 계명을 받았습니다.
 3. "Despite this, people commit adultery and fornication, thus violating the laws of nature.
 3. 그럼에도 불구하고 사람들은 여전히 간음과 사통을 함으로써, 자연의 법칙을 어기고 있습니다.
 4. "It is written, however, 'Whosoever commits adultery and fornication shall be punished, 
 4. 또한 '간음과 사통을 하는 자는 누구나 처벌받으리라'고 기록되어 있습니다. 

because the fallible are unworthy of life and its laws; thus they shall be castrated or sterilized.

이런 자들은'생명과 생명의 법칙에 합당치 않으므로 거세하거나 불임을 시켜야 합니다.
 5. "If unbetrothed men and women bed down with one another in disgrace and without loving each other, they shall be punished also, 
 5. 만일 미혼 남녀가 떳떳하지 못하게 서로에 대한 사랑도 없이 동침을 한다면 그들 또한 벌을 받아야 하나니, 

for the fallible are unworthy of life and its laws; thus they shall be castrated or sterilized.

이들 역시 생명과 생명의 법칙에 합당치 않은 사람들이므로 거세 또는 불임시켜야 합니다.
 6. "And if two men bed down with each other, then they shall be punished, 
 6. 또 남자들끼리 동침을 하면 역시 처벌하여야 하나니, 

for those fallible are unworthy of life and its laws and behave heretically; 

그들이 생명과 생명의 법칙에 합당하게 행동하지 않고 이단적으로 행동하기 때문입니다. 

thus they shall also be castrated, expelled and banished before the people.

따라서 그들도 거세시킨 뒤 사람들 앞에서 쫓아내고 추방하여야 합니다.
 7. "If, however, two women bed down with one another, they shall not be punished, 
 7 그러나 여자들끼리 동침하는 것은 처벌해서는 안 됩니다.

because they do not violate life and its laws, since they are not inseminating but are bearing.

여자는 씨를 뿌리는 것이 아니라 단지 받게 되어 있는 까닭에, 그들의 행위가 생명과 생명의 법칙에 어긋나는 것은 아니기 때문입니다.
 8. "When inseminator and inseminator join together, life is desecrated and destroyed. 
 8. 씨를 뿌리는 자들끼리 동침을 하면 생명이 침해당하고 파괴되지만, 

But if conceiver and conceiver join together, there is neither desecration nor destruction nor procreation.

씨를 받는 자들끼리 동침할 때에는 생명의 침해나 파괴 또는 생식도 없는 것입니다.
 9. "Truly, I say to you, there is no animal beneath the heavens that would behave like humankind and violate the laws of Creation and nature. Are you not much more than the animals?
 9. 진실로 내가 그대들에게 말합니다. 하늘 아래 어떤 짐승들도 인간들처럼 창조와 자연의 법칙을 거역하는 경우가 없습니다. 그러나 인간들은 짐승들보다도 훨씬 더 귀한 존재가 아닙니까?
 10. "No animal is found under the heavens for which males cohabit with other males, but females are found together with females, because male and female animals follow the laws of nature.
 10. 하늘 아래 어떤 짐승들에게서도 수컷이 수컷과 동거를 하거나 암컷이 암컷과 동거하는 것을 발견할 수 없나니, 이는 암수 모두가 자연의 법칙을 따르기 때문입니다
 11. "Whosoever indulges in fornication for the sake of pay or pleasure shall be  castrated or sterilized, expelled and banished before the people.
 11. 돈을 벌기 위해서나 쾌락을 위해 간음에 탐닉하는 자는 거세시키거나 불임을 시킨 다음에 사람들 앞에서 사라지도록 추방하여야 합니다."
 12. "Whosoever sexually abuses a child is unworthy of life and its laws
 12. "어린이를 성적으로 학대하는 자는 생명과 그 법칙에 합당치 않으니, 

and shall therefore be punished by castration or sterilization, and be deprived of freedom through lifelong confinement and isolation.

이 또한 사형이나 거세 또는 불임의 처벌을 가하여 영원히 생명의 자유를 빼앗거나, 속박과 고립 속에서 살도록 하여야 합니다.
13. "Whosoever indulges in incest is unworthy of life and its laws 
 13. 근친상간에 탐닉하는 자 또한 생명과 그 법칙에 합당치 않으니, 

and shall therefore be punished by castration or sterilization, and be deprived of freedom through lifelong confinement and isolation.

마찬가지로 사형이나 거세 또는 불임을 시켜서 영원히 생명의 자유를 빼앗거나, 속박과 고립 속에서 살도록 하여야 합니다.
14. "Whosoever has sexual intercourse with an animal is unworthy of life and its laws and shall be castrated or sterilized, and be expelled and banished before the people.
 14. 짐승과 동침하는 자 또한 생명과 그 법칙에 합당치 않은 자이므로, 거세 또는 불임토록 만들어 사람들 앞에서 추방시켜야 합니다."
 15. "Whosoever marries a man or woman divorced in guilt shall be castrated or sterilized, 
 15. "죄를 짓고 이혼한 자와 결혼하는 사람은 거세하거나 불임시켜야 할지니, 

because he or she is unworthy of life and its laws. They shall both be expelled and banished before the people.

이는 그 또한 생명과 생명의 법칙에 합당치 않기 때문이며, 그들을 둘 다 추방하여 사람들 앞에서 사라지게 해야 할 것입니다.
 16. "He who begets a child without being married to the woman and leaves her unmarried is unworthy of life and its laws and shall therefore be punished by castration and loss of his freedom.
  16. 결혼하지 않고 여자에게 아이를 갖게 만든 남자 또한 생명과 법칙에 합당치 않으므로, 마찬가지로 거세 또는 사형으로 처벌하여야 합니다.
 17. "Whosoever rapes a woman or a man is unworthy of life and its laws and shall therefore be punished by castration or sterilization, and be deprived of freedom through lifelong confinement and isolation.
 17. 여자나 남자를 강간하는 자는 생명과 그 법칙에 합당치 않으므로, 마찬가지로 거세 또는 불임으로 처벌하여야 하나니, 이로써 그가 영원히 자유를 잃고 속박과 고립 속에서 살도록 하기 위해서입니다."
 18. "Whosoever commits violence against another person's body, life or mental health is unworthy of life and its laws and shall therefore be punished with loss of freedom through lifelong confinement and isolation.
  18. "물리적인 폭력이나 사람의 생각에 대한 정신적인 폭력을 막론하고, 다른 사람에게 폭력을 휘두르는 사람은 생명과 그 법칙에 합당치 않으므로 마찬가지로 처벌하여야 하나니, 그로써 그가 사는 동안 자유를 박탈당하고 속박과 고립 속에서 생을 마치게끔 만들어야 할 것입니다."
 19. "Truly, truly, I say to you, these laws are rational and were established by nature, and they shall be obeyed, 
 19. "진실로 내가 그대들에게 말합니다. 이 질서의 법칙들은 자연으로부터 주어진 것이며 반드시 준수되어야 합니다. 

or humans will bring death to themselves in great masses.

그렇지 않으면, 인간들은 자신들과 인류 전체에게 죽음을 초래할 것입니다.
 20. "This Earth can nourish and support five hundred million people of all human populations. 
 20. 지구는 오억 정도까지의 인류를 먹이고 지탱할 수 있습니다. 

But if these laws are not followed, in two times a thousand years there will exist ten times five hundred million people, 

그러나 이러한 법칙들이 지켜지지 않을 경우에는, 이천 년 안으로 오억의 열 배가 넘는 인간들이 이 지구상에 존재하게 될 것이며, 

and the Earth will no longer be able to support them.

그러면 지구는 더 이상 그들을 지탱할 수 없게 될 것입니다.
 21. "Famines, catastrophes, worldwide wars and epidemics will rule the Earth; 
 21. 따라서 기근과 재앙, 세계적인 전쟁과 전염병들이 지구를 뒤덮게 될 것이고, 

Earth humans will kill each other, and only a few will survive.

인류는 자살 행위를 저지르게 되어 불과 극소수만이 살아 남게 될 것입니다."
 22. "Truly, I say to you, there will be wailing and chattering of teeth when so much human blood drenches the sands of Earth that new life forms arise from it, bringing the final horror to mankind.
 22. "나는 진실로 그대들에게 말합니다. 이 지구 땅 위에 그토록 엄청난 인간들의 피가 뿌려지면 땅으로부터 새로운 형태의 생명체들이 생겨나게 될 것이며, 그들은 인류에게 극단적인 총포를 가져다줄 것입니다. 그 때에는 울부짖음과 이를 가는 소리가 천지를 진동할 것입니다.
 23. "But on this day you have been allowed to receive all good things, and have been given the laws by which you shall live.
 23. 그러나 오늘날 그대들에게는 모든 좋은 것들을 받도록 허락되었고, 그대들이 준수하면서 살아야 할 법칙들이 주어졌습니다.
 24. "And you shall adhere to additional laws, so that you will have prosperity on Earth and peace within your families.
 24. 그대들은 추가로 주어진 법칙들을 믿고 따라야 할지니, 그럼으로써 그대들은 지상에서의 번영과 가정의 평화를 누릴 수 있을 것입니다."
 25. "Do away with enforcing the old law that subjects woman to man, since she is a person like the man, with equal rights and obligations.
 25. "여자는 남자에게 순종하여야 한다는 옛 법칙을 강요하려 하지 마시오. 여자도 남자와 똑같이 동등한 권리와 의무를 갖는 사람이기 때문입니다.
 26. "But when a man marries a woman, he shall pay to the most trusted steward of her possessions a price as security, so that she will not suffer from lack of necessities.
 26. 그러나 남자가 여자와 결혼을 할 때에는 여자가 가장 신뢰하는 재산 관리인에게 일정액을 보증금으로 지불해야만 하나니, 이는 여자가 필수품들의 부족 때문에 고통을 받지 않게 하기 위해서입니다.
 27. "The price shall be calculated whereby a hundred pieces of silver will be required for each year of the woman's age, if her health is not lacking. Thus she will be measured according to her knowledge, abilities and strength.
 27, 여자가 건강하기만 하면, 그 보증금의 금액은 언제 어디에서나 그녀의 나이에 은 백 냥을 곱한 금액으로 간주되어야 할 것입니다. 따라서 여자에게 지불할 보증금은 그녀가 가진 지식, 능력과 힘에 따라 계산될 것입니다.
 28. "The price shall not be considered that of a purchase, but as security for the woman, so she will not suffer from want.
 28. 그 돈의 액수는 여자를 사는 값이 아니라 그 여자를 위한 보증금으로 간주되어야 하나니, 그녀가 어떤 결핍으로도 고통 받지 않게 하기 위한 것입니다.
 29. "The bond of matrimony between man and woman shall be permitted only if both are mentally competent and capable of conducting a marriage according to the laws.
 29. 남녀 간의 결혼이라는 유대 관계는, 법률에 따라서 양쪽 모두가 정신적으로 자격이 있고 결혼을 영위할 능력이 있을 때에만 허락되어야 합니다.
 30. "A marriage agreement between man and woman shall be concluded only when the price for the woman is paid.
 30. 또한 남녀 간의 결혼 합의는 여자에 대한 대가가 지불되었을 때만 이루어져야 합니다.
 31. "If, according to prearranged agreement, no price is paid, the law applies that the man must provide for all of the wife's necessities.
 31. 만일 미리 준비된 합의에 의해 아무런 대가를 지불하지 않을 경우에는 남자가 아내의 모든 필수품들을 제공해야만 합니다."
 32. "A wife's infertility is no cause for divorce, nor for any other judgment or action.
 32. "아내의 불임은 이혼이나, 다른 판결 또는 조치의 이유가 되지 않습니다.
 33. "The only valid grounds for divorce, aside from adultery, are the destruction or endangerment of the material consciousness, the body or the life of a member of one's own family.
 33. 간통 이외에 이혼을 할 수 있는 유일한 근거가 있으니, 그것은 식구 가운데 어느 한 사람에게든지 그의 중요한 의식이나 육체 또는 생명을 파괴하든지 위험에 처하게 한 경우입니다.
 34. "A person who is to blame for a divorce shall be castrated or sterilized, expelled and banished before the people, 
 34. 죄로 말미암아 이혼하는 자는 반드시 거세된 채 추방되어 사람들 앞에서 사라져야 할지니, 

because he or she is unworthy of life and its laws.

그가 생명과 그 법칙에 합당치 않기 때문입니다.
 35. "If all is done and adhered to in this way, justice and peace will come to all humankind and life will be preserved.”
 35. 만일 모든 것이 이런 방식으로 행해지고 지켜진다면, 정의와 평화가 모든 인류에게 있을 것이며 생명은 보전될 것입니다."
